Casting Notice

Casting 'Pearls for Spurs', a new dramedy by Gates Leonard about a family severing ties after moving to a trailer park in Florida.

Breakdown

Mississippi Biles (Missy)- (43-46) A Texas gal. All she’s known is Texas. Mother of Carousel, Kill, and Spoon. Lost her husband to cancer and decided to move to a trailer park in Florida. She loved it in Texas but associated the state with her husband and grew uncomfortable there after his death. Since then, she has struggled with her sleep and self-medicates.

Danielle Mitten (Danny)- (36-39) Overly affectionate sister of Missy. Has severe, unmanaged paranoia. Lives with Missy and the children in their trailer. Has no luck with people no matter how nice she is.

Carousel Biles - (16, or casting older to play younger) The oldest child of Missy. She has gotten into a lot of bad crowds since moving. She lives by her own rules and puts on a tough girl persona in front of her family but struggles to sustain the facade outside of the trailer.

Spoon Biles - (10, or casting older to play younger) The youngest child of Missy. Independent. Other kids his age think he's weird and choose not to hang out with him, but he’s unfazed by that. He could easily be shirtless throughout the play if he chooses. He does things to entertain himself and feels no regret for the choices he makes. He is the definition of a free spirit.

Kill (pronounced Kyle) Biles - (13, or casting older to play younger) The middle child of the family. He is the most rational of the family. He has a very dry humor and is easily made uncomfortable. He is a very gentle kid and rarely fights back. He is very intelligent and loves learning facts no one is interested in. Possibly wears his sister's hand-me-downs.

Benjamin Green (Bean) - (13, or casting older to play younger) Kill’s best friend and possibly his only friend. He has lived in the Florida trailer parks his whole life and is one of those young boys who wears the highlighter athletic wear. He tries to be much cooler than he is, which Kill finds charming about him. He loves the Discovery Channel mainly because Kill loves the Discovery Channel.

Dude - (18-20 or 30s-40s) Carousel’s boyfriend. Inconsiderate and appears unhealthy, yet surprisingly strong.
